Beautiful Powell River

There is something quite magical and special about Powell River. It could be the spectacular beauty of ocean and forests (there’s no lack of either), but other places in BC enjoy similar scenery. It could be the isolation - it’s on a peninsula of the the BC mainland reached only by ferry, plane or boat, but other places are isolated.

What makes Powell River special is the people - all 20,000 of them, give or take. There is a sense of community and a commitment to enjoy the finer things of life like art and culture.

There are art galleries, two museums, a university, a National Historic District (the Townsite) that has a special place in BC history, the Patricia Theatre, Canada's oldest operating cinema and vaudeville house, a vibrant Francophone community with its own school district, the world renowned Academy of Music, a fully equipped recreation complex and two live performance theatres.

Those of us who live here consider ourselves fortunate and enjoy sharing our good fortune with visitors.  See Links for more information on Powell River, including maps.
