The Academy (est. 1981) is a performing arts school encompassing music, dance  and theatre. With a student body of 700 and a faculty and staff of 28 it has established significant festivals for the students and community.

Coast Culture Alliance

A non-profit organization which operates the Malaspina Exhibition Centre at Vancouver Island University, a registered public gallery which provides a venue for local artists and a showplace for a variety of visual arts. Artists are paid an honorarium. A permanent collection of art by local artists is on display during the summer. New members welcome. Meetings are the 1st Monday each month at the University; look for the sandwich board for room number.

9:00 - 4:30 September to mid-June.  Closed for public holidays.

Powell River Studio Tour

The Powell River Studio Tour is annual event held at the end of the Blackberry Festival each year in August. Free to the public, the Tour features local artists at their studios located from Saltery Bay (south of Powell River) to Lund.

Visitors will be able to experience the diversity & excellence of the art community in the Powell River region, along with the spectacular natural beauty of Canada's Sunshine Coast. Visitors design their own tour using a free brochure and guide that includes information on each artist or gallery participating in the tour.

Tourigny and Marce, Wood Artisans, is a new workshop-studio-gallery in Powell River. Dominique Tourigny is a 35-year Master Cabinetmaker and his wife, Brenda Marce, is a visual artist. Together they have created Powell River’s first “wood only” art gallery offering furniture, home decor items, cremation urns and wonderfully unique gifts

Incorporated as a society in 1989, the mandate of the Society is to raise awareness of our unique heritage through education, walking tours and by providing historical resources. Since its’ inception the Society has invigorated the community. Active members engage in fundraising activities to support the Society’s endeavours. The website provides a photo journey back through time as well as some history on the area.
